NEW ARTIST - JON BOAM

Hello I'm Jon

I tend to leave most things till the last minute and often do things the hard way, I fail a lot and am well versed in the art of procrastination and underachievement.

I have done lots of different jobs for money while always struggling to find time for my artwork - I work as a carer at present.

I love drawing and imagining stuff - It feels like it's what I'm supposed to be doing, it's a habit I don't want to stop - I would draw all the time if only I had time.

My process is usually a bit like this though subject to change
- drawing with pencil + rubber on bristol board until it feels OK
- inking up is mostly done with fine tip pens and or brush + ink
- scan in to computer - crank up contrast if needed
- open in photoshop - remove white so now lines are on top layer
then just build up the colours underneath my lines layer by layer

That said I'm really enjoying messing about with coloured pens, pencils, paint and stuff at the moment - getting back to a more instinctive way of image making

My inspiration comes from everywhere - life, nature, people, dreams etc.. I love looking at other peoples artwork on the Internet, watching films, reading comics, going for walks n stuff.

NEW ARTIST - ADAM HIGTON

ADAM HIGTON graduated with BA hons Fine Art from UWE, bristol 2008, since then, he has started his own mystical woodland saga which combines drawing, video, costumes, music, textiles and performances pieces (mainly focusing on drawing...) titled 'Yule Bringer'. Adam also recently formed the Jovial Woods Artist Book Collection, with the intention of hosting one night events, in small local environments (village halls, libraries, bookshops etc...) exhibiting a special collection of limited edition artists books from artists/illustrators and musicians.

In December 2008 he had his first solo exhibition at Detroit Gallery an artist run space in Stockholm, Sweden. Adam's 2nd solo show will open at Here Gallery in September, and following on from this will be a 16 page Christmas special for the Running Amok artist book project, published by ANALOGUE BOOKS

Adam's work is based around themes of merriment and mysticism, a love of drawing and the works are mainly inspired from his own personal spiritual experiences, which are adapted, changed and re-told through the creation of woodland characters. Adam's interested in animistic folk religions (mainly pagan and japanese shinto... but he's also keen on Norse mythology and icelandic saga's... like Theodor Kittelsen, Ladislaw Starewicz, Aubrey Beardsley, Tove Jansson etc. He enjoy's films which combine cartoon animation and real action, in particular Maria Mirabella & Bedknobs and Broomsticks... and drawing whilst listening 60s and 70s folk, prog and rock music...

TJB PART 3 @ HERE - Confirmed

Hello...Analogue bode a fond farewell to TJB over the weekend. We will be traveling to the HERE Gallery in Bristol next, for the months of July & August. We're excited about this. Works that have sold will be replaced with newbies. We have also invited three new artists to exhibit in the third installment. All will be revealed in good time.
